# CLI and Configuration Reference

> CLI commands, configuration values, trigger bindings, input limits, and common errors.

## CLI

| Command | Use |
| - | - |
| `deepline setup --json` | Install skills. Connect the machine. Check the connection. |
| `deepline auth status --json` | Check the host, user, and workspace. |
| `deepline auth register` | Reconnect this machine only |
| `deepline doctor --json` | Diagnose a failed setup |
| `deepline org list` | See available workspaces |
| `deepline org set "$ORG_NAME"` | Set the active workspace |
| `deepline search "$QUERY"` | Find tools, Plays, Monitors, and docs. Filter with `--type`. |
| `deepline describe "$NAME" --json` | Inspect a tool, monitor type, or play by name |
| `deepline plays check "$PLAY_FILE"` | Validate a play without running it |
| `deepline plays run --file "$PLAY_FILE"` | Run a local play file |
| `deepline plays publish "$PLAY_FILE"` | Publish a Play revision |
| `deepline plays deploy "$PLAY_DIR"` | Deploy every Play in a directory together |
| `deepline plays deployments "$DEPLOYMENT_ID"` | Read one deployment's results |

## Config

| Name | Use |
| - | - |
| `DEEPLINE_API_KEY` | Workspace API key |
| `DEEPLINE_HOST_URL` | Deepline host override |
| `.env.deepline` | Per-folder file containing only `DEEPLINE_HOST_URL` and `DEEPLINE_API_KEY` |

For automation, save `DEEPLINE_HOST_URL` and `DEEPLINE_API_KEY` in the folder's `.env.deepline`.
Run `deepline ...` commands from that folder.

## Input size limits

| Input size | Behavior |
| - | - |
| Up to 100 KB | Stored inline in coordinator retry state |
| 100 KB to 1 MiB | Stored as a short-lived artifact-backed retry payload |
| Over 1 MiB | The API rejects the input. Use staged files or `ctx.csv` inputs. |

Play input should contain parameters, filters, and file references.
Pass large tables, lead lists, research corpora, and documents through a file path.
Read the file inside the Play with `ctx.csv(input.csv)` or the appropriate file reader.

## Bindings

```ts theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/deepline-prompt.json"]}}
import { definePlay } from 'deepline';
export default definePlay(
  'inbound',
  async (_ctx, input: { email: string }) => {
    return { email: input.email };
  },
  {
    webhook: {},
  },
);
```

```ts theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/deepline-prompt.json"]}}
import { definePlay } from 'deepline';
export default definePlay(
  'daily',
  async () => {
    return { ok: true };
  },
  {
    cron: { schedule: '0 9 * * *', timezone: 'America/New_York' },
  },
);
```

```ts theme={"languages":{"custom":["/languages/deepline-prompt.json"]}}
import { definePlay } from 'deepline';
export default definePlay(
  'capped',
  async () => {
    return { ok: true };
  },
  {
    billing: { maxCreditsPerRun: 25 },
  },
);
```

## Common fixes

| Symptom | Try |
| - | - |
| Missing API key | `deepline setup` or add `DEEPLINE_API_KEY` to `.env.deepline` |
| Wrong workspace | `deepline auth status` |
| Play syntax fails | `deepline plays check <file>` |
| Prebuilt called as a tool | Use `deepline plays run` or `ctx.runPlay` |
| Background job used wrong org | Run from the folder with the correct `.env.deepline` |
